Hi chsxf,
it turned out, that Arlasoft was not the only Atari 2600 developer who liked your game very much. I have added some of my own ideas to it, therefore I call it "Top&Tom 2". You can find my version here.
We now plan to release the game on cart in the AtariAge store. Would that be OK for you? If you want to continue to communicate in private, please let me know via AtariAge. My Username is "Thomas Jentzsch".

Thanks for the heads up. I have obviously no problem with derivative works based on Top&Tom. However, just to let you know, my company and I will launch the game on mobile very soon and there may be an issue with the “Top&Tom 2” name in itself. I haven’t tested your game but I’m sure it is perfectly fine. I would only require a change of name I guess. Do you think it would possible on your side?

Thanks for the quick reply. I like the name, but if you prefer something different, I can vary it. Would something like Bot&Tom or Tom&Bot be OK for you?

Here is a video of the gameplay from a WIP version.

BTW: I think the game will work very well on mobile.

Anything that does not contain « Top & Tom » or « Top and Tom » will be fine.

I am very pleased to see people making these games based on the original. I hope that our final product will be as pleasing to play as the current version. :)

Cool. Working on an alternative name now...

BTW: Please let us know when you launch the mobile version.

Thank you for being so understanding.

And sure, I’ll post here when the mobile version is released.

Hi there, enjoyed playing your game and was looking for a simple project to dip my toes into Atari 2600 development (although nothing on the 2600 is simple...). Here's my version: https://arlagames.itch.io/toptom-2600

Awesome! Will definitely test it as soon as I can.

Congrats on making it into the video! I had to try this one out since I feel like we had similar ideas, I liked the way you executed it with how you only control the top character and you have to use that carefully to affect the other. Great work!

Thanks. I’ve tried yours too. At first, I was thinking of doing the same thing, then I realized the connection between the two characters was not strong enough and I tried something else. Glad it worked so well.

Great idea very nicely done!
It reminds me a lot of the game Ibb and Obb but it feels very very different. (Would be great on mobile I guess)
